Diamond Islands Flash Game Description |
 |
The story begins when in one clear night, an ancient village suffered the wrath of the Gods that made the stars fall onto the earth. If a legendary hero can calm the Gods by rebuilding the stars, he will be able to marry his great love: the Chief's daughter. The brave young man and his friends step into the ancient world and discover "Diamond Islands". They will make their way through the ancient archipelago to satisfy the Gods, in a test of logic and strategy that’s easy-to-learn, but satisfyingly hard to master.
The objective of the game is to collect "diamonds" while move a "totem" to specific points on each island. If our hero collects all six diamonds on each island, the broken stars will be rebuilt, and the wrath of the Gods will calm. The game draws the materials from an original flash game called "Bloxorz", which is very popular on the web. Microjocs absorbs its essence, and adds fantastic graphics and unique elements. These elements can help our hero to fulfill his objective. The game consists of 100 levels, 10 islands with 10 levels on each. Like other DChoc games, there is a gallery inside; Here it is the "Spells Gallery". You will be rewarded with "Magic Spells" during your journey on the islands. These spells can be very useful in your daily life. You can unlock these spells by achieving certain goals in the game. The methods to unlock them can be also found in "Spells Gallery".
Gameplay:
We have clearly learned about the objective of the game. Then how do we control our hero? It's quite easy. During the game, what we really control is the "totem", which can be navigated by pressing the 2, 4, 6 and 8 keys. If there's an obstacle in the way, our hero and his friends will refuse to make that movement. There will be some arrows in red and green; "Red Arrows" mean the move is forbidden, while "Green Arrows" mean you have permission to move. On most islands, you can move the totem in unlimited steps, as long as you place it in the "goal position". While on some islands, you have to reach the goal within a maximum number of steps. If you are not able to do it, the totem will break into pieces and the Gods will lose their tempers.
The knack to satisfy the Gods is to nimbly utilize the elements. The elements include "ancient bridges", "wooden bridges", "wooden boats" and "mud". The ancient bridges are hidden under water, at first. You must place the totem on an "activation point" to raise them above the water. As we all know, wooden bridges are not stable when things are standing upright on them, so we have to "roll" the totem instead of making it stand up. Sometimes, the diamonds, activation points, or goals are on another island. Our hero must take a boat there. Only when you place the totem rightly standing up on the boat can the transportation succeed. The last element is mud, which will make your totem slip a bit, so it will make an extra movement in the direction you are moving. Usually your desired movements are faulted up by this slippery step.
The background of the game is set in Hawaii. You can get a lot of information about Hawaii during the loading screens, between levels. Although the idea of the game was not innovated by DChoc, we can see the improvements they have added to it. Compared with a similar game "Tiki- Rola" by Teazel, "Diamond Islands" has better graphics and sounds. Though they have similar gameplay, they put emphasis on different sides, and they have their own unique features. (ie: You can get the solution of how to move within minimum steps in "Tiki- Rola", which I think is very helpful. 8) ) In a word, "Diamond Islands" is a very nice casual game! |
